Como Historical House and Garden offers a range of learning experiences for students of all ages.
We offer a formal structured day program for primary school groups and a special field work exercise for VCE Geography students. Please click here for details of our new VCE Geography Field exercise.. Specialist tours focussing on specific curriculum areas can be arranged.
Students can compare the life of 19th Century children and families to their own contemporary experiences on a tour of the house where the lives of the 19th Century children are brought to life.
They can learn about the hardships of working life in theservants quarters as well as handling and examining old domestic utensils and objects to work out their original purpose. They can explore the 5 acres of gardens on a tour with the Gardener and discover the importance of the garden for food as well as leisure. After lunch students can enjoy an afternoon of Old Fashioned Games. We can tailor this program to match your curriculum.

Primary Students Program - now in two program levels!
We offer two full day programs for two primary group levels - the Preparatory to Yr 2 program and the Yr 3 to Yr 6 program. See details below.
Each full day program can cater for up to 50 students from10.00am to 2.15pm.
To excite primary school students about their visit to Como we invite them to step back in time and dress up for the occasion - information about simple costumes and props is available at the time of booking.
We are happy to tailor our programs to suit individual curricula - please discuss your requirements with our staff.

The Preparatory to Yr 2 program
The Preparatory to Yr 2 program offers five sessions including a House Tours, House Detective session, Gardens Tour, Old Fashioned Games and a new Storytime session. Please note that only half the group will complete either House Detectives or the Garden tour.
Features include
- Some pot plants per garden group (Group 2 & 4) will be given.
- 2 x Como posters and 2 x Como snow domes for whole group to give away as memento of the visit.
- Accompanying teachers/staff/parents are free: Minimum 1 adult, maximum 2 adults for every 10 students to supervise the students
The cost is $11.90 per student for the Prep - Yr 2 program. Carers / teachers are free.
